Dear Friends,
Greetings from the Netherlands where the first bulb flowers are emerging from rich Dutch soil. Spring is slowly setting in and more people are out and about, providing added ministry opportunities.
Open House Thank you to so many of you who prayed specifically about our open house! We had a wonderful time opening our home to neighbors and many new friends. Altogether there were more people we wanted to invite than we could fit in our home, so we divided the group into two and had them over on different days. A total of thirty-five people came, including many of our immediate neighbors. We believe the Lord gave us favor in their eyes and we feel we have a good foundation to continue building relationships with them. Their natural curiosity about Theo’s job gave opportunity to articulate our purpose for moving to the Netherlands. People are usually surprised to hear that we would leave the US to move to the Netherlands and it adds weight to our purpose for being here. One neighbor across the street is a Catholic theology teacher who has expressed interest to talk further. Another neighbor has begun to open up concerning religion and recently told me why he is an atheist. However, he listened closely as I related my testimony and gave him some Biblical truths to consider.
Language School Sarah is enrolled in a six-week language course and is really enjoying being in class all day. She knows a good bit of the theory covered already, but it has been good to spend a lot of time practicing. She is in a class with 5 other ladies from 5 different countries (Belgium, France, Denmark, South Africa, and Estonia). While there have been interesting daily discussions (ranging from Barbie to capital punishment), the one topic that has been avoided is religion. Please pray for Sarah to have opportunities and boldness to share the Truth with these ladies. Updated Website We are now posting more frequent ministry updates on our website (www.HollandForChrist.com) for those who would like to follow our ministry more closely. The site has a working RSS feed. Upcoming Events This spring, we hope to start a Bible study in our home. Please pray that those we invite would be willing to come. The study is geared toward unbelievers and is strongly evangelistic in nature. Theo is preparing the study materials as well as personal invitations. This summer, the Musical Mission Team from BJU will give a concert in our city. We secured a nice location and are working on newspaper articles to advertise the concert. Prayer Requests 1. Daily growth in grace 2. Spirit-led evangelistic opportunities 3. Prospects for our Bible Study 4. Continued language acquisition for Sarah and Peter 5. The sale of our US home Serving Him Joyfully, Theo and Sarah van Reijn |
