Home Missions Foreign Fields Netherlands - Theo van Reijn September-October 2010 Prayer Letter
September-October 2010 Prayer Letter PDF Print E-mail

Dear Friends,

We are departing for the Netherlands on October 20th! We have made many new friends during our deputation ministry and already miss you! We are finishing up taking our packed belongings to Men For Missions at Hampton Park Baptist Church (Greenville, SC).  They will pack everything in a container and ship it to us in the Netherlands. We have worked hard toward this goal and are grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness during our deputation (often displayed through you!). We trust the lessons we have learned in this phase of ministry will stand us in good stead during greater tests on the field.

House

In God’s providence, some recent hail damage has resulted in a brand new roof (courtesy of our insurance company J) and the house has never looked so good. Still, interest in our home has been moderate and we fully understand that it is GOD who will need to act on our behalf to provide a buyer. Please pray that our home might sell or that God will make it clear that He has other plans in mind (e.g. renting instead of selling).

Support

God is answering your petitions on our behalf and has added another church to our support team, putting us at 97%! Though we are very close to being fully supported, we ask your continued prayers for our final needs. We are also thankful for the generosity of several supporting churches and friends to contribute to our passage fund. The yard sale was a success and brought in over $1000 toward the fund! We still need about $3500 by the end of the year to meet our one-time moving expenses. It is exciting to see the Lord provide for all these things in His time for His glory.

Looking Ahead

As we look ahead, there are many things for which we need God’s grace. Once we arrive in the Netherlands we will stay in a small furnished vacation rental for at least one month. During this time, our belongings will cruise across the Atlantic Ocean and we will need to do some house hunting. The specific location and even layout of the house will be important for ministry purposes. Peter will start school soon after we arrive and will face a challenging transition into a new language. Sarah will continue to work on her Dutch under a tutor (Theo’s stepmom) and will most likely start official language school in January.

Prayer Requests

1.                   Daily growth in grace through God’s Word.

2.                   The sale of our house in the US.

3.                   Our final support and passage fund needs.

4.                   A smooth transition into Dutch culture.

5.                   A suitable house in the Netherlands.

6.                   Good initial evangelistic opportunities.

Serving Him Joyfully,

Theo and Sarah van Reijn
