Hello Parents!

The last few weeks have seemed to go by like a whirlwind in my mind and life. As I look over the last few weeks I am thankful for the opportunities of spiritual growth and challenge that the Lord has made available to the teens and their families. Do you realize the great privilege that we had? We had the War of the Special Forces 3 weeks ago, the ODACS Leadership Conference last Friday with Kevin Brownfield, Revival Meetings with Jerry Sivnksty, and on Saturday the teens have the opportunity to be challenged again by a great man of God, Morris Gleiser.

Looking at the line-up of speakers God has provided for us the last few weeks, many churches, camps, and Christian colleges would envy having these experienced servants of the Lord back to back like this so that their young people could be spiritually challenged. If I had to guess and total up the combined experience of the speakers we have been exposed to over the last few weeks, I would guess that there would be well over 100 years of mission experience. What a great privilege God has provided for us! Yet, as I tell our teens, EVERY PRIVILEGE HAS RESPONSIBILITY!

All of this would be for not if we did not avail ourselves to these opportunities of spiritual challenge and growth. All of this would be for not if we were mere “hearers only” these last few weeks. We must be “doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving our own selves”. Let me caution you as parents to not allow yourselves or your teens to be “deceived” into thinking that b/c we have had these meetings that we can become complacent in our spiritual lives. The contrary is true. We must be more fervent, more alert, more on guard because “our adversary as a roaring lion [is going to be aggressively] walking about seeking whom he may devour”. If we let our guard down now and relax, we could become his next victim. Let’s remain faithful and fervent in our own lives and encourage in the lives of our teens the responsibility to daily read God’s Word & pray, to be memorizing Scripture, to be attending ALL the services of the local assembly, and to be witnessing to others. Your actions will produce more in their lives than anything else. Set the godly example.
